India found 743 more cases of COVID-19 in the last day, making it a total active infection count to be at 3997. This was informed by the country’s health department.

This adds up to 4,501,248 coronavirus cases in India since January 2020. In the last day there were an extra 734 more people getting sick from covid-19. The number of people who died because of COVID-19 is now 533,358. In the last day, this increased by seven more deaths.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has found JN.1 to be a separate “interesting variant”, saying it is quickly spreading everywhere while showing the danger as small all across the world’s health system.

Maharashtra has reported 129 new COVID-19 cases including 10 of the JN.1 variant, which is a type different from usual.
